Hi Mike,
Surprised to read your obvious heartfelt feelings, after what was a very enjoyable week-end for me, at Lostock (when I eventually found it in the dark!). This was my first experience at such an event like it - I wished I could have been attending 30 or more years ago when I really starting developing an interest in Astronomy. I still have the Celestron C90.

Mike, I trust you can re-kindle your earlier enthusiasm, a couple of good nights and some worthwhile pix to show for it, will go a long way towards that end. I was very pleased with the way things were organised at the AstroCamp, you did well, and I did not sense you may have been struggling with the whole thing. If there is anything I can do to help, I would be glad to offer, if it is within my power to help, given my age and distance from the Central Coast, infinitesimal as it is, compared to the distances to which Astronomers are familiar.

Hi Mike
Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I just need some good weather and some good seeing to get me excited again.. It's Saturn season again, so hopefully soon!
I meet up with some local friends every month and that's always great for the social side of it.
Cheers and all the best.

Mike,

I too have been feeling this way lately. I was intrigued to see your openness to write down such deep thoughts in an mostly technical and scientific hobby. I've been stretched with my mediocre setup (8" SCT) and a single arm fork. I have a TON of trees in my 'observatory' (yard) and upgrading to a heavier setup isn't realistic at this time. I'm stuck with aperture fever but apathy on the flip side, mostly stemming from wanting more out of other hobbies and things in my life. (Music, sports, computers, family...) I'm not yet over mine 'hump, and I wonder if joining a local group wouldn't help me too!

Thanks so much for sharing!
