The Moonlit Landscape

Hi all

These photos were taken back in February 2010, in preparation for the 2010 David Malin Awards. The themed category for 2010 was “The Moonlit Landscape“, so in the February Full Moon I headed out at night to try and capture some landscapes under the moonlight.

The first photo here was my most successful, taking out an Honourable Mention in the awards. It was taken at Long Jetty overlooking Tuggerah Lake.

You can see the Pleiades and Taurus in the middle/top of the picture.

Working back now, the image below was my first of the night. I stopped at a small graveyard near Ourimbah hoping to capture a moody image. The light wasn’t quite right and it didn’t turn out how I had hoped in my mind, but it’s ok I guess. And yes, it was kinda scary :)

The next photo was another taken at Long Jetty.

The next two photos were taken at the Entrance Beach Pool. They turned out ok but I wasn’t totally inspired by them.

It was an interesting night shoot. I wouldn’t mind trying it again in future.

Thanks for looking.
