I won the Ken Duncan Photo Awards!!

OMG, I’m still gob-smacked – I still can’t believe it’s real.

I entered some photos into the Ken Duncan Photo Awards, and my picture “Surf Alone” was chosen as the major prize winner! I get to go on a 13 day Kimberley Adventure with Ken Duncan!!

The competition has been running for 3 months, with Ken picking short-list entries and then a monthly winner. I only entered my shots on the last day of January, and was so pleased to find out I was short-listed. There were so many fantastic photographs during January, I was happy to have made it that far. I didn’t win the month of January so I thought that was it.

But all entries were eligible for the major prizes, and I received a phone call today from a colleague of Ken Duncan’s who notified me I’d won the major prize – the Kimberley Adventure!! I couldn’t believe it! I still can’t.

I haven’t even indulged myself to have a detailed look at the itinerary  or a map yet. It hasn’t sunk in. I can’t believe it’s real.

Thanks so much to all my friends who have been so generous with their comments and Likes on Facebook. It really means a lot.

No doubt there’ll be more to share as I prepare for the trip, and of course the photos afterwards.

Details of the photo:

Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70mm lens @ 19mm, 1/320s exposure @ f/4.5, ISO160. Shot on the 1st May 2011 at Avoca Beach.

Thanks for looking.
