Sunset over the Birubi Beach Sand Dunes
The sand dunes at Birubi Beach are just stunning. With the right light it’s almost impossible to take a bad photo of these wonderful objects of nature. And so it was in December 2008 when the sunset painted just the right light on the wind-swept ripples in the sand, creating a wonderful scene to capture.
These photos were taken during my family’s christmas holidays at the end of 2008. I’m glad I finally found the time to finish processing these – it reminded me of what a beautiful location it was.
The photo above is available for purchase at RedBubble, and for download as a wallpaper (1024×768). Please let me know if you would like other sizes made available.
Please continue reading to see the rest of the photos from the impromptu sunset shoot.
My family and I were camping at the Birubi Beach Caravan Park over christmas, and after dinner one night we walked over to the dunes to watch the beautiful sunset.
They had fun jumping and playing in the sand!
The landscape as a backdrop was magical, and the sunset provided beautiful light for portraits. There were a number of photographers there taking pictures of people.
There’s some other photos from our christmas holidays that I haven’t finished processing yet – these have given me the motivation I need to get stuck into it. Hopefully more to come soon!
All photos taken with my Canon 350D and Sigma 17-70mm lens.
Thanks for looking.

I love the lines in the sand dunes and what beautiful light.
Thanks Jared – I wish I could’ve spent more time there but it got dark so quickly.
We’re heading back there again this christmas holidays so I hope to capture some more – I also want to go and photograph the Sygna shipwreck too! I didn’t get a chance to get out there last visit.
