Ellis Beach Sunrise

It was the last morning of our Far North Queensland holiday, and the only morning (apart from the Total Solar Eclipse of course) where I could get some photography done.

I started in Palm Cove, and headed North up the Captain Cook Highway, stopping off at beaches along the way trying to find a nice foreground for the beautiful sunrise which was taking place.

These ones were captured at Ellis Beach, a beautiful spot. I love the yacht near the middle of the frame on the horizon – makes me want to jump on board! You might have to click on the photo (view the large version) to see it.

One thing I loved about Far North Queensland, is how the mountains rise up from the sea. This is taken from the South end of Ellis Beach, looking North.

The other thing I loved about Far North Queensland, is how the palm trees go right up to the edge of the sand. Gives it that real tropical getaway feel.

Thanks for looking!
