The Gibb River Road is the main “highway” between Kununurra and Derby, and usually not the most pleasant drive although it does pass through some amazing scenery such as the Cockburn Ranges and the Pentecost River.
On the morning of day 9, we crossed the actual Gibb River, that the road was named after. The river was named after Gibb Maitland, a Government Geologist,
We drove through Gibb River and stopped on the banks for a short break before we continued our incredibly bumpy journey out to Mitchell Falls.
