We finally reached the top and overlooking the West wall, waited for sunrise to light up the wall.
While travelling down the river the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter was stunning. Once we reached the top of the escarpment, while everyone was facing West, I turned around and faced East to capture the bright planet pairing.
Jupiter is the top of the two bright stars, with Venus below. Aldeberan is the star below that, and the Pleaides star cluster is visible top left.
The image is a single exposure with the Canon 5D Mk 2 and 24-105mm lens @67mm, ISO1600, f/4.0, 1/2 s exposure.
The star spikes were added in Photoshop – I thought they gave Venus and Jupiter a nice effect.
Thanks for looking.
