Long Jetty Long Exposures
I don’t normally use my 10-stop ND filter but wanted to try it the other weekend at Long Jetty. It helped me get a much slower exposure, around 15-30 seconds instead of < 0.5 second.
It helped smooth the water out and created some interesting pastel colours. You need to make sure you focus and compose before putting the filter on though, because you just can’t see through it and the camera won’t be able to auto-focus. You can try using live-view with a long exposure – I had some success composing using that method.
The image above was a 30 second exposure, at ISO100 and around f/11. The image below was a 15s exposure with the same settings.
Thanks for looking!
