OMG, I’m still gob-smacked – I still can’t believe it’s real.
I entered some photos into the Ken Duncan Photo Awards, and my picture “Surf Alone” was chosen as the major prize winner! I get to go on a 13 day Kimberley Adventure with Ken Duncan!!

Total Lunar Eclipse Sequence – December 2011
The Total Lunar Eclipse of December 2011 was a special one for me – it’s the first one where everything went right. After days of rain, the skies cleared on the night of the eclipse. My equipment worked flawlessly and the seeing was rock steady, giving me my sharpest images of a Total Lunar Eclipse.
Sydney Opera House and Planetary Conjunction at Dawn
In the early morning of the 5th May 2011, I lugged my camera gear to work to photograph a unique planetary conjunction in the pre-dawn sky over the Sydney Opera House. The conjunction of Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Mercury in the pre-dawn sky was taking place all throughout the month of May, and I had [...]
Beautiful Sunrise at Avoca Beach, Seascape Photos May 2011
On the 1st May 2011, I headed out to Avoca Beach to catch the conjunction of the Moon and Planets in the pre-dawn Eastern sky. When the dawn light went and the sunrise came, the sky put on a beautiful show and I was fortunate to capture these beautiful seascapes. They’re some of my best [...]
The Top 10 Best Astrophotographers in Australia
Australia has some very very talented amateur astrophotographers, producing images that are among the best in the world. Our beautiful dark skies, combined with the stunning objects visible in the Southern Hemisphere, give Australian Astrophotographers a bountiful choice of targets on which to produce their inspiring work. I wanted to feature and profile these brilliant [...]

The feature image in From the Vault this week is the Total Lunar Eclipse that occurred on the 28th August, 2007. The [...]
Photos of the Moon, Jupiter, Mercury & Mars Conjunction
I just love Moon and Planet conjunctions, and I just love early morning photography. When the two combine that’s when I hope to create something special. On the morning of the 23rd February, a beautiful conjunction rose in the pre-dawn sky. The Crescent Moon with earthshine on display shone brilliantly in the East as it was [...]
From the Vault: Dynamic Jupiter in Motion
In the From the Vault series, I feature an older image which hasn’t been seen here before and I talk about the capture and processing and hopefully highlight why this image is special to me. The feature image in From the Vault this week shows a Dynamic Jupiter in Motion with an image montage and [...]
Pictures of the Smiley Face Conjunction
Wow, well last night certainly proved to be more stressful than was expected! After a beautiful and clear practise run on Sunday night, it was supposed to be crystal clear on Monday night too but high cloud and then thick low cloud came in during Monday afternoon which threatened to spoil the whole event for [...]
