Two more from the Turimetta Beach series, I was lucky with the timing when I captured Crash and Flow is a 3-exposure HDR that grew on me as I played with the colours and processing more.
Rush and Promise
While at Turimetta Beach on the 11th April, I was experimenting with longer exposures as the waves crashed in and receeded through the channel between the rocks.
Reprocessed – Beam of Light
A couple of days and a fresh pair of eyes can make all the difference.
I’ve reprocessed the images of the Beam of Light I shot at Turimetta Beach because the colour was just all wrong – too much cyan, too much saturation in parts.
I hope you like these better. I won’t tell the story again – read the original post for that. But enjoy these images.
Beam of Light at Turimetta Beach
It was my first visit to Turimetta Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. I hadn’t been there before, but it’s certainly now made an impression on me. It’s a fantastic secluded location near Narabeen, with some beautiful rock structures and formations that give amazing opportunities for seascapes with an interesting foreground. After an uninspiring first hour or two, a break in the clouds out over the ocean gave us our money shot. A magnificent beam of light shone through the clouds into the ocean and finally gave us a focal point to compose around.
Photos from Avoca
These photos round out the session from Avoca on the 11th March, where I captured Sunrise Contemplation. I’m reasonably happy with the mornings efforts, despite the lacklustre sky early on. I’m keen to get out there again soon.
Good Morning Killcare!
It was a good morning at Killcare, on the 4th January 2012 when I captured various nightscapes and seascapes during the pre-dawn and dawn skies. Here’s a selection of new images from that session.
Sunrise Contemplation
A lone fisherman, contemplating life, work, family – who knows, maybe just hoping he doesn’t get washed off by a big wave, or hoping he gets a nice catch for the morning. I was just about to head home, when I tried one last shot.. and captured this beauty.
Kioloa Beach Sunrise Panorama
This photo is likely one of the last from my series on Kioloa Beach. I created this panorama a while ago but it never really grabbed me. I’ve been staring at it too long, and it’s time to post it and be done with it
It looked good at the time, and I like the rays extending out through the clouds.
Before the Dawn
The light was magnificent before the dawn on Good Friday, 22nd April 2011. It was completely overcast earlier on, but at the right time the clouds started to part and the sky was lit up with beautiful deep reds and oranges.
Terrigal Sunrise in May 2011
On the 15th May I headed out to Terrigal at 5am for three reasons – a) to photograph the conjunction, b) to capture some sunrise images, and c) to run up and down the skillion as part of the BBMA prep cycle for the new round of candidates. These photos are from (b) – the [...]
