Amateur astronomers travel to distant and remote locations to find magical dark skies – a place where they can observe and photograph the night sky in all its beauty.
My IceInSpace friends Chris (Omaroo, from South Sydney) and Jeanette (jjjnettie, from Queensland) travelled to Lostock Scout Camp for the dark skies at IISAC2011 star party. Chris’ landrover and Jeanette’s little sedan feature in this star trails image taken at IISAC2011. The red lights from their headlamps can be seen tracking back and forth to their cars, no doubt for supplies such as camera gear, chocolate and beer 🙂
Taken with my Canon 40D and a borrowed 15mm Canon f/2.8 fisheye lens. An hours worth of exposure @ ISO1600, f/2.8, 30s exposures stacked in StarStax.
Thanks for looking.
